Salvation
Life is often filled with winding roads that can lead to difficulties, pain, sickness, confusion and sometimes even great adventures. But, there is only one road that truly matters…the road that leads each of us to our final destination…the road to Heaven!
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it”
Matthew 7:13-14
Jesus (Yehoshua) is the only road that leads to eternal life in Heaven!
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6
Many years ago, I was living life my way. Sure, I was raised knowing about God and how He sent His Son Jesus for us, however, I definitely was not living a life that showed that I actually believed that. Even if I did believe (which I did!), I had not chosen to follow Him. I didn’t even really know what that meant except to make sure I went to church every Sunday and to try not to do a bunch of “bad things”. Haha. Okay, well that wasn’t going so well for me because I didn’t have what it took for me to stop doing the “bad things” that I was doing which caused me to feel even worse about myself. It wasn’t until major spiritual and physical issues hit me and those I loved that I finally realized I needed God in a way that I had never known Him before. I became desperate and I knew He was the only solution! My search for Him began.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, …”
Jeremiah 29:12-14
What I was searching for, though I didn’t know it at the time, was a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father (“Papa”) through my Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. It wasn’t about all the rules and regulations that I had grown up with (though there are guidelines and boundaries for our own good) but rather a love relationship with the One who created, loves and knows what’s best for me.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
John 3:16-17
It is because of God the Father’s grace and mercy that He revealed Himself to me and that I am still here today! It is because His Holy Spirit has empowered me to overcome those “bad things” in my life, that I have been set free! It is because of my free will choice to repent (turn away from) my sinful ways and make Jesus my Savior and Lord, that I know I’m on the right road to my final destination. I am beyond grateful that I’ve had these experiences in my life, not because they’ve been easy but because these struggles have allowed me to discover the truth. I pray that all those who read this will receive these words as seeds and that they will grow leading you to the One that loves you the most!
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name (Jesus) under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12
Today is the day of salvation as none of us is promised tomorrow! If you desire to choose Jesus today making Him your Savior and Lord, it really is just a heartfelt conversation between you and God telling Him that you realize you are an imperfect human being as we all are. Tell Him you are sorry for your sins and thank Him for sending His Son, Jesus, who died on the cross and rose from the dead conquering sin on your behalf so that you can be reunited with God for all eternity. Then choose to follow in the footsteps of Jesus (our guide) as written in the books of the Bible (our guidebook). Make a practice of reading or listening to the Word of God (Bible)) as well as talking and listening to your Heavenly Father (praying) daily to help keep you on the right path. If you just made this most important decision you’ll ever make, I say, “Welcome to the family of God brother or sister in Christ!”
